Never forget

what happened seven years ago this day and all the people who died or whose lives were affected by the events of that horrible Tuesday morning.  I fear that too many have and we run the risk of leaving ourselves vunlerable to another senseless tragedy someday.  So take a moment and think of the bravery and tragedy of September 11, 2001, and what we all can do to make sure that such a thing NEVER AGAIN happens in this country.

I remember being at work and a co-worker of mine, who ironically is of Iranian descent, came in telling me of a plane hitting the WTC.  Like everybody else that day, I thought it was a terrible accident until more reports started coming in from the people working in the front office.  I took lunch to my car and turned on the radio to the news that both towers had fallen, the Pentagon had been hit, and a fourth plane was missing.  I didn’t eat much of my lunch that day.  I do remember the frightened looks and the whispers of “what the hell is going on” all through the workplace.

So, where were you and what were you doing when you heard what was happening on Sept. 11?

And, for your listening pleasure, I’ll include a video.  This is “New York Minute”, by the Eagles.  Can’t think of a more appropriate tune:

Never forget.  And God’s blessings on those who lost a friend or loved one that day.

  1. I was in my car with Mr. T. It was Mommy and Mr. T day… I’d taken him out of preschool, sent my eldest to kindergarten and Bones, who consumed all my time, to 2 year old preschool (3 hours 2 days a week) so Mr. T and I could have breakfast alone and go home and play games.

We were in the car… we got to BK and the TVs were on. We watched and Mr. T said, “Mom… who did that? Were those evil Aliens from outer space?” And I said to him, “Good God I wish it was…”

  2. I was teaching…I remembering huddling around a tv during my break with other teachers. We had decided not to tell the kids. And I remember one teacher being scared because her mother was a flight attendant who was scheduled to fly out of NY that day, and she couldn’t get ahold of her…she was okay, thank God.
