Three years

It’s Memorial Day weekend, and my blog has officially turned three.

(Don’t remember the exact date, or if it was actually on Memorial Day, but I do know it was on the weekend that I first started.)

Nothing much has changed on here, I just post what I feel when I feel like it.  Sometimes funny, sometimes not.  Sometimes I read it later and wonder why the hell I posted it, sometimes I think I put up something pretty good.

I do want to try for a lighter tone, though.  If not outright humor, at least things like movie and TV reviews from time to time.  Not so much recent stuff, but perhaps things that I’ve always liked and want to share.  There’s very few recent things that I watch anymore, other than Deadliest Catch, a few History Channel documentaries, and Law & Order SVU reruns.  Plus I’ve been scouring the news (especially Instapundit) for noteworthy items worth commenting on, usually something humorous or ridiculous that I can’t resist.  And of course I keep up on family happenings around here, but I may be more cautious about some of it due to the fact that now we all live so close and if this blog were to be accidentally discovered there could be some nasty repercussions.  But I still plan on keeping it real, and trying to be a little less lazy about posting.

Since last year’s blogiversary it seems like not much and at the same time quite a bit has gone on.  There have been jobs gained and lost, a wearisome work schedule and commute, domestic tensions as we struggled to figure out how to put the family under one roof again, a very difficult and stressful move that ended with Yes Dear staying with her sister and her chaotic household, and me still trying to make ends meet working in a town 90 minutes away and staying in a combination of motel rooms and with supportive coworkers (thank you!), and finally getting into a small place of our own with very reasonable rent and me getting a decent job just a few minutes away.  There still are some stressors around here and things going on that I haven’t blogged about, but the home front has stabilized for the time being so I don’t worry as much about the future as I once did.

And I’m thankful to be back as a permanent fixture in AJ’s life, who’s progressed from babyhood to toddlerhood, and approaching the little boy phase.  He’s mostly a happy, curious, fairly well-behaved little guy that’s getting re-used to having me around as a permanent fixture.  I look forward to our future with him as he grows.  All we have to do is make it through the adoption process, which SIL is helping somewhat with since she works in an attorney’s office.

Once again I thank who I consider my blogparents, Jim Peacock from the now-defunct Snoozebutton Dreams, and Shannon from Everyday Stranger, whose inspiration has made it possible for me to start this blog and keep it going, as well as my regular readers and commenters, who I appreciate immensely and would find it hard to go on without their unwavering support.  And anyone else who may stop by here and lurk, feel free to leave a comment and say hi.  I always welcome new readers and will certainly check out your blog, if you have one.

And a happy Memorial Day weekend to all out there, and honors to all the veterans, living and fallen.  Your sacrifices will always be remembered.
