Location: Casa de Dave & Yes Dear
Approximate time: 10:30pm
Dave: [getting ready for work] So honey, ’bout ready to take me to work tonight?
Yes Dear: You can take the van to work.
Dave: You do know, tonight’s my 12 hour night, so I won’t be back until 11 in the morning?
YD: Yep.
Dave: Won’t you need the van in the morning?
YD: Nope.
Dave: What if your family calls needing you?
YD: Then they’ll have to take care of themselves, because my husband has the van at work and I can’t go anywhere.
Dave: [finally understanding] Ohhhhhh…
YD: Think I should at least have a Saturday morning to myself without being bothered by them.
Dave: [sarcastically] But…but…what if they call and say they’re dying?
YD: Then they can call 911. They can get to them faster and are better equipped to deal with them. Besides it’ll be their gas, not ours.
Dave: That’s mean. Maybe necessary, but mean.
YD: Yep. Time to reclaim my status as the family bitch.
Dave: I think they mistook that for meaning you were their bitch.
YD: Not anymore. I’m gonna be THE bitch, not THEIR bitch.
Dave: Just not to me, please?
YD: So long as the dishes are done by tomorrow night.
Dave: Deal.
YD: Deal. [kiss] Love you. Have a good night at work.
Dave: [on way out door] Love you too. See you in the morning.
I’d love to hear how late Yes Dear got to sleep in.
She *so* deserves it.

Good for her! She’s got the right idea about that.

With kids in the house YesDear may not have slept in too late, but she deserves whatever time she was able to steal.
‘THE Bitch’. Good for her!

I love the real conversation. It is sad that sometimes people can be called names for sticking up for themselves or taking a break. Did you get the dishes done?

Dave, I read this right after you posted it (you’re in my feed reader), but waited a while to comment.
Love it.
Good wife! The bitch…not their bitch!

If you’re going to be called a bitch, might as well enjoy the benefits.
