Yes Dear told her sister that we were going to Houston to see my family for Christmas.
Her sister asked, “Oh, so what are you going to do with PBJ and AJ?
YD: “Huh?”
SIL: “Are you planning on leaving them with us? So they’ll be able to spend Christmas with family?”
YD: “Uhhh… they ARE going to spend it with family. All of us. With Dave’s family. And besides, Dave’s stepmother has never seen AJ.”
SIL: “Oh. When we visit my hubby’s family, we don’t take the kids.”
YD: [speechless]
Incredible. I don’t know how to respond to that either.
Little wonder all the kids in her house (JJ and twins) feel neglected and unloved.
Holy moly!

I wonder if the hubby grew up in an abusive family so he is trying to protect the children. My husband and I have never went on a vacation without our son. I figure when he is 18 my husband and I will still have plenty of time to go on vacations together. I understand a lot of great parents vacation without the children, but I can’t imagine always leaving the children home!

I can’t wrap my mind around that, though “sustahl” brings up a good point.
