Hear, hear

Too many people just don’t seem to get it.

They don’t understand what’s at stake here in this next Presidential election.  They’d rather bitch and pout that the Republicans can’t come up with the “perfect” candidate, and either tear down the ones that are really viable or threaten to sit out the next election.

I found this article via Instapundit that illustrates perfectly my thoughts.  Particularly this passage:

“…The election of 2012 ain’t a conservative popularity contest. It’s a war to, first, last, and always, destroy any possibility of a second term for Barack Hussain Obama.

This is not a “Vote-For” election. This is a “Vote-Against” election. This is not a “Sit-It-Out-And-Pout” election. This is a “Get-Obama-Out” election. That is what it is about and that is all it is about.”

Click on the link and read the whole thing.

A second term under Obama would be an unmitigated disaster.  Free from the burden of having to run from reelection, Obama would have four more unfettered years to do whatever he pleases and completely destroy the American system as we know it, without having to give a damn about public opinion.  The damage done the past four years is nothing compared to what will happen the next four years if Obama is reelected.

Mitt Romney is far from perfect, but right now he’s the best hope for keeping Obama from a second term.  At this point, none of the other candidates need apply.

The real key is to elect people to Congress who will use their powers of checks and balances to keep whoever occupies the White House from abusing their office and straying too far from the will of the people.

And a “protest” vote for cranks like Ron Paul, or not voting at all, is quite literally a vote for a second term of Obama.

Think about it.

  1. I will vote for anyone AGAINST Obama.

  2. AMEN!

  3. Well shit this sounds familiar! Totally agree!

  4. I tend to agree, but I have qualms about Romney. Not because he isn’t conservative enough for me (that’s a given), but because the Obama campaign has come out and said they prefer to go against Romney.

    That’s worrisome to me.

  5. I’m not a Republican, I’m an Independent. I cannot stand Obama. My issue with the Republicans is they are not strategically thinking about who can win against Obama. They are splintered over this candidate that best represents their ideals. So. We’re doomed. Newt cannot beat Obama. Santorum cannot beat Obama. Only Romney has a chance. And here we sit, watching them beat the crap out of him… and so now, he may not be able to either.

    • That’s how I’m feeling right now, particularly with this dogfight between Newt and Romney that’s tearing each of them down, and Newt’s recent victory in South Carolina. Don’t get me wrong, if the people firmly get behind Newt and give him the nomination I’ll vote for him. But his blunt manner (though refreshing to hear in debates) and personal baggage may turn off too many of the moderate mainstream voters in the general election, and they are the ones who ultimately decide the winners.
