The Real Dave

Need to update this a little, it’s been awhile. (finally did 9/15/11)

As you can probably tell from the title, my name is Dave. Yes, that’s my real name. But due to security and privacy concerns, that’s one of the few real names you’ll get out of me. Unless I otherwise specify, I’ll use cute pseudonyms and fictional references when talking about people, places, and things in my life.

I’m a former resident of  the sprawling suburbs of Atlanta GA, but am now living in western Arkansas, a good drive west of Little Rock.  One of these days I’ll have to blog a timeline about all the places I lived, though you can find clues about how I ended up here if you dig through my archives (humming the Grateful Dead’s “Truckin’”).

I live with my Dear Wife (also known as Yes Dear), our youngest 20-year old daughter PBJ, and our 2-year-old grandson-soon-to-be-adopted-as-our-son AJ.  No, he isn’t PBJ’s, he’s from another one of our daughters.  Like I said before, browse through my archives for more details.  I won’t mind.  Really, I won’t.

The purpose of this blog? To empty my brain of the (often) useless crap that clogs it. And to hopefully entertain those who stop by. And vent about things in my life and what’s on my mind. Subjects are variable, depending on my mood. I quite often alternate between funny and thoughtful, with occasional seriousness.

Though I’m sure I’ll make exceptions along the way, I try to avoid controversial topics like religion and politics. Both subjects tend to bring out the worst in people and result in a lot of pointless flame-baiting. Religion in particular I consider a very personal topic to most people, so I try to avoid and discourage bashing of such. I’m also terrible at constructing logical arguments so I usually don’t indulge in those because I’ll usually lose them, whether I’m right or wrong. Most of what I’ll speak here are things straight from the heart. Or off the top of my head.  Or sometimes, out my hind end, depending on your particular point of view.
